Section 508 Accessibility Training

Odellus educates software accessibility implementers, developers and testers around the nation through instructor-led classroom training.

These training courses are unique forums for the exchange of technical and regulatory information related to accessibility and Section 508 and are offered in classroom computer lab settings where participants can receive in-person, face-to-face training.

OCC-21: Section 508 Software Applications and Operating Systems

This two day instructor led course provides Software Applications and Operating Systems components accessibility testing with emphasis on applicable WCAG 2.0 Success Criteria relating to Section 508 . The training class employs the use of industry standard methodologies, the use of assistive technologies and verification tools available for IV&V accessibility implementations and testing. Students will learn how to test JAVA, .NET and Standard Windows applications for accessibility and Section 508 compliance. This class covers all the common and complex accessibility errors found within software applications created for the Windows operating system and how to test and present the accompanying Section 508 compliance reports. This class is a requirement for the Odellus Section 508 Subject Matter Expert Certification and prepares the student for that certification exam.

OCC-22: Section 508 Web-based Intranet and Internet Information and Applications

This is a three day instructor led course that teaches web accessibility testing utilizing all of the best practices methodologies and the requirements of the W3C's WCAG 2.0 Success Criteria. At the completion of this class, students will learn how to test web applications for accessibility and Section 508 compliance. All the Level A and AA WCAG 2.0 Success Criteria will be covered including the correct implementations of images, hyperlinks, image maps, tables, frames, web forms, JavaScript, Ajax, color and color contrast, keyboard and page navigation, multimedia, style sheets, etc., as rendered from the browsers Document Object Model (DOM) interface. Students will also learn how to test web applications using automated and manual testing tools such as ComplyFirst Professional, and with assistive technologies (AT) such as JAWS, NVDA, ZOOMTEXT, Windows magnifier and Dragon Naturally Speaking to adequately understand how different ATs interact with web applications. This class is a requirement for the Odellus Section 508 Subject Matter Expert Certification and prepares you for that certification exam.

OCC-41: Section 508 Accessible Office Documents

This two day teaches the student how to create accessible Microsoft Office Word and Adobe PDF documents using WCAG 2.0. Students will learn how to test these documents types for accessibility and Section 508 compliance. At the completion of this class, students will also learn how to remediate inaccessible documents of the type above through numerous hands-on use case scenarios. This class is a requirement for the Odellus Section 508 Subject Matter Expert Certification and prepares the student for that certification exam.

OCC-PP: Section 508 Policies and Procedures

This two day class teaches the student how to implement the policies and procedures for Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C. 794 d) when developing, procuring, maintaining, or using electronic and information technology as amended by the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. The first part of this class introduces the general definitions, applications and exceptions to the technical standards, performance criteria and support documentations subparts. The second part focuses on the implementation in procurement from requirements to solicitation, to the market research as required and defined in FAR part 10 through contract awards including deliverable's verbiage clauses. Determination of the pertinent standards and applicable provisions to E&IT procurement will be covered. Students will learn how to apply Section 508 in the Software Life Cycle development. Students will learn how, when and the proper use of personnel accommodation in providing E&IT solutions as well as how Section 508 relates to Section 504. This class is a requirement for the Odellus Section 508 Subject Matter Expert Certification and prepares you for that certification exam.

OCC-CF: ComplyFirst 2010 Professional

ComplyFirst 2010 Professional, is a comprehensive automated testing and manual verification & validation tool used to identify potential barriers to accessibility on web applications. This one day training class provides the complete instruction on the use of the application software and how to test Web applications for Section 508 compliance. This class teaches the students how to apply the W3C's WCAG 2 requirements to Section 508 compliance verification thru DOM interface properties of objects exposed to assistive technology.
